04Build Steps

  1. Cut the dividers. Cut the divider boards and bore 3 in holes in a diamond pattern so bottles cross at the neck and shoulder.
  2. Assemble the grid. Glue and screw the dividers between the two sides to form six diamond cells.
  3. Add the cradle dowels. Install the dowels across the bottom of each cell to support the bottle shoulders.
  4. Back and mount. Attach the back panel, then mount the rack to a wall or set it on a shelf.
  5. Finish. Sand smooth and seal with a clear, low-odor finish.

Safety First

  • Clamp the dividers when boring holes so the bit does not grab.
  • Drill slowly through pine to avoid tear-out on the exit side.

05Pro Tips

  • Space cells at 3-1/2 in so standard bottles fit snugly.
  • A slight forward tilt keeps corks in contact with wine.
